Brandy Norwood’s song “Best Friend” is a hit in the United States.
For her self-titled debut studio album, Brandy (1994), it was written by Keith Crouch and Glenn McKinney, with the former overseeing production.
The song was dedicated to her brother Ray J, thus the title.
In June 1995, the song was released as the third single from the album.
The song was modestly popular, peaking at number 11 in New Zealand and number 34 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
It did, however, reach number 7 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list in the United States.
