Near the song’s conclusion, Janet Jackson and RenĂ© Elizondo Jr. giggle while Branford Marsalis plays a solo on the saxophone.
Narada Michael Walden is the track’s producer.
The rap bridge from the album version isn’t there in the song’s radio version.

The song “I Love Your Smile” is Shanice’s most well-known and commercially successful single to date.
It peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart for 4 weeks in December 1991 and January 1992.
After being remixed by Driza Bone, “I Love Your Smile” reached the top of the Dutch Top 40 in the Netherlands and peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart.
It received a Grammy Award nomination in 1992 for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
On May 25, 1992, Shanice appeared as the first musical performer on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
In the music video for the song, Shanice can be seen in a studio getting her picture shot by a photographer.
